Professor Ahlquist to Lead Session at GW’s The Sulgrave Symposium

October 09, 2014

This Friday GW is hosting The Sulgrave Symposium, an afternoon of discussion, live music, art, and free good celebrating the 200th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Ghent - an event that ended the War of 1812 and began long-lasting peace and friendship between the United States and Great Britain.

Prof. Ahlquist will be discussing ways English musical theater performed in the U.S. in the 19th century helped unite the two countries through dramatic themes and music in their common language. Her session will include live performances of Gilbert & Sullivan songs by students Kevin Frey and Lindsay Martin, accompanied by Professor Frank Conlon.

Students, faculty, staff, and alumni will receive complimentary admission to Friday's event. Please register here.
