Local Music Experts Join Prof. Kip Lornell for Launch of the DC Vernacular Music Archive

Gelman Library celebrated the opening of its new exhibit, Hear in D.C.: The DC Vernacular Music Archive, with a symposium featuring local music icons: DC Music Salon founder Marc Eisenberg, Dischord Records co-founder/Fugazi, Minor Threat, The Evens frontman Ian MacKaye, Folklore Society of Greater Washington foundinmusic.g member Andy Wallace, and folk musician and author Steven Wade, as well as Archive organizer Prof. Kip Lornell.

Department Represents at 2014 IMF Meetings

As world financial leaders and executives converged on GW for the Annual Meetings of the Work Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund, the Department of Music showcased their diversity and talents at several performances. Faculty and students performed on the University Yard and outside IMF Headquarters over several days.

This Friday GW is hosting The Sulgrave Sumposium, an afternoon of discussion, live music, art, and free good celebrating the 200th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Ghent - an event that ended the War of 1812 and began long-lasting peace and friendship between the United States and Great Britain.
