Student Jazz Combo Praised in "The Harlem Times"

Tom Sherman of The Harlem Times recently recapped the events of the Smithsonian Institute's 13th Annual Jazz Appreciation Month (JAM). These events centered around the celebration of the 50th anniversary of John Coltrane's album "A Love Supreme." When describing the closing concert to his readers, Sherman praised the GW student jazz ensemble performing, "The students and faculty comprising the Tuesday Night Combo lavished the audience of nearly 1,000 with delightful scatting, soothing grooves, and skillful solos."

As part of GW’s ongoing participation in the National Civil War Project, Professor Karen Ahlquist and Resident Artist & Scholar Stephen Wade participated in An Evening Exploring American Cultural Life During the Years Before, During and After the American Civil War, an evening featuring a staged play, The Actor and the Assassin, and a facilitated discussion between Ahlquist, Wade and Professor Richard Stoff.
