Monteverdi: Madrigals and Arias

Monteverdi: Madrigals and Arias will take place on Monday, April 25 at 7:00 pm at The United Church on 1920 G Street, NW. This concert explores the works of Claudio Monteverdi, a fantastic composer who wrote one of the first operas and helped usher in the Baroque era in music. The concert features GW faculty members Robert Baker , Gisele Becker , Mary Findley , and Joseph Gascho. It features guest artists soprano Ah Young Hong from the Peabody Conservatory and lutenist/guitarist William Simms from the ensemble Harmonious Blacksmith. It also features GW students and alumni, including the GW University Singers. In additional to choral music, it features vocal chamber music, vocal solos, an instrumental ensemble of baroque violins, baroque cello, harpsichord, theorbo and guitar.
