DCist Covers MUS 1104: D.C. in the History of Punk Music

“[M}usic can relate to other disciplines, whether it’s culture or history or politics,” explains Professor Eugene Montage in the DCist article by Toni Kerr, “Out of Step: How A GWU Professor Is School Students in D.C. Punk History.” This past summer was the first year the Department of Music taught MUS 1104: D.C. in the History of Punk Music. Prof. Montague’s students (the majority who have never listened to punk music) received a crash course on this history of punk as well as lesson of how D.C. was influenced by the musical genre.
